Brendan Mathews is an attorney in our Cincinnati office. Brendan is happy to collaborate with clients in all areas of family law, with a particular passion for fertility and assisted reproductive technology law, adoption, and divorce and child advocacy.
 
Brendan was raised in Bardstown, KY. He attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a B.S. in Biology and a B.S. in Neuroscience and was a recipient of a Presidential Scholarship. Following his undergraduate degrees, Brendan obtained his Master of Public Health (MPH) with a dual concentration in Health, Behavior, and Society and Epidemiology at the University of Kentucky. Throughout undergrad and graduate school, Brendan was a fierce advocate for women and children as a victim rights advocate with a local sexual violence resource center and as a perinatal and pediatric epidemiologist throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Brendan graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law with a concentration in corporate law and was a recipient of an Honors Scholarship.
 
Prior to joining WSM, Brendan was a tax attorney with a local boutique tax firm where he specialized in Section 1031 like-kind exchanges and other tax deferral strategies for high net worth/high asset clients. As a tax attorney, Brendan published several scholarly articles in national tax law journals and local bar association newsletters.
 
In his free time, Brendan enjoys listening to audiobooks and podcasts, visiting local coffee shops and restaurants with friends, and binge-watching whatever show he’s obsessed with at the time. He lives in Dayton, KY with his partner and the world’s cutest goldendoodle and newfypoo.
